Fort Hays State University has named Alex Hagan as the next head coach of its women’s soccer program, making him the fourth head coach in program history.
Hagan arrives in Hays after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Johnson County Community College, where he played a key role in one of the top junior college programs in the country. During his tenure, the Cavaliers compiled a 66-17-7 record, won three consecutive conference titles, and reached the NJCAA Division II national championship match in back-to-back seasons (2023, 2024).
He was also part of a staff that earned NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2024, while helping develop numerous All-Americans and all-conference selections. In addition to on-field success, the program saw strong academic achievement during his time on staff.
Prior to his stint at Johnson County, Hagan served as the head coach at Bethel College for five seasons. Taking over a rebuilding program, he guided the Threshers to KCAC Tournament appearances in each of his final two seasons and helped develop multiple All-KCAC performers. His teams were also recognized for their work off the field, earning KCAC Team of Character honors during his tenure.
Hagan began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant with the Bethel men’s soccer program after a four-year playing career with the Threshers, where he was a three-time team captain and led the team in goals scored all four seasons.
He now takes over a Fort Hays State program looking to build momentum in the MIAA under new leadership.
